Ronaldo aims to play in the 2026 World Cup from Victory Gate
Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo began planning to play in the 2026 World Cup with his country, Portugal, through Al-Nasr Club, before retiring from football permanently.
Ronaldo is going through a wonderful period in Saudi Arabia and has rediscovered himself again since joining Al-Nassr in December 2022, where he scored 25 goals and provided 8 assists in 30 matches.
According to Saudi sports journalist Ali Al-Harbi, Cristiano Ronaldo wants to participate in the 2026 World Cup with Portugal while he is a player with Al-Nasr Club, after which he will announce his retirement from football.
Ronaldo informed Al-Nasr management of his desire to renew his contract with the club until 2027, before joining the Portuguese national team camp during the international break during October 2023.
Ronaldo will be 41 years old in 2026, which will witness the World Cup being held in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada, with the participation of 48 teams for the first time in history.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s current contract with Al-Nassr Saudi Arabia expires in June 2025, and he receives a salary of about 200 million euros per season.
Ronaldo participated as a substitute in most of Portugal’s matches in the 2022 Qatar World Cup, and was eliminated from the competition in the quarter-finals against Morocco. Al-Don scored a single goal, which was in the opening match against Ghana.
Ronaldo’s participation in the previous World Cup was the fifth in his history, after he had previously played in 4 editions in 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2018. If he participates in the 2026 edition, he will become the most participating in 6 editions of the tournament.
